Origin, Creativity, and Order
Origin. Regardless of ones worldview, religion, way of life, or guiding principles; every thoughtful person must develop a position on how we got here in the first place. Even more basic—where did the raw materials, matter which make up things, humanity, and the universe come from. Did matter just pop into existence? Or did an infinite, all-powerful creative God bring material and all creation into being? The Bible teaches that this God is also personal and knowable. How incredible is it that this God wants to restore relationship with us, which we have broken off through our own rebellious action.
Creativity. Some of us experience an irresistible propensity toward creative endeavors. Passion expressed in the brush stroke, coordination of the spectrum of colors and fashion, carefully crafting words with style, brevity, and rhyme, mixing food in delectable combinations, or developing notes in flowing composition. This creative exposition emanates from the creative mind which fashioned the earth’s mountains, canyons, and majestic waterfalls. The one who orchestrated human sensory perception and painted prairie grasses with beautiful wild flower arrangements, gave you the aptitude for wonder and imaginative thought.
Order. Others among us are energized and inspired by order, structure, and physical or chemical process. The ability to engineer with precision, design stable buildings, categorize and order information, and analyze complex data. The God who established the underlying laws of physics and chemistry not only put the universe in motion, but sustains daily cosmic function, and allows us to take another breath.
Origin, creativity, and order each find its root in the initial statement of God to his human creation, formed in his image and likeness. Do you recognize God’s fingerprint on your life and in the natural order of the world?
